Back to Basics

It's been a sport-centric week for the First Lady thus far. Yesterday, Mrs. O addressed athletes from Team USA at a press conference held in Dallas, Texas. Today, she was back to the White House to host a Let's Move event honoring the LA Galaxy.

On the style front, black and white appears to be the palette du jour. Mrs. O paired an oversized flower pin with a striped top, blazer and white trousers (not shown) in Dallas. For today's White House event, Mrs. O wore her signature Alaia belt in white with a Moschino bow blouse and black trousers.

Update: Reader Elizabeth identifies Mrs. O's blazer as Moschino, available here.

I love the large pins she wears. With her stature she is able to pull them off. She gets better looking all the time. With the Hollywood facelift, botox look as a comparison, her healthy look is a positive example for all women. She is more beautiful then most, but that healthy glow can be achieved through effort.

Mrs. Obama is beautiful inside and out.

Hopefully she won't go down in history as the expensive designer clothes horse First Lady.

Jacke Kennedy managed to avoid that by her White House Restoration and other bring-the-Fine-Arts-to- the-forefront efforts.

Despite all her sincere efforts to focus on military families & veteran needs, eating right, family
values and other good causes....Mrs Obama is first and foremost talked about for her fashion choices.

The conumdrum is: we live in an age where style, looks, fashion, and the exterior self shape
opinion. At the same time, focusing on these surface non-essentials can pigeon hole the person
in the limelight.

Mrs Obama is so much more than what she wears, spectacularly as she may present herself.

Hopefully, we will never lose sight of the hard work and energy she brings to the substantive issues of the day.

@ Trinisamba, I was thinking the same thing! The site has gone silent.

Mrs. O does look great in the two outfits above and in the ones she's worn the past couple of days!

I don't think Mrs. obama will be remembered mainly for her clothing. She has done so much for military families and worked so hard towards improving health standards for children in the area of diet and exercise. That's what she will be remembered for--plus the obvious example of being a caring mother and wife. I love to see what she is wearing, but her other contributions far outshine the fun of looking at her wardrobe.

So sorry....did not mean to go missing from my favorite website!
I took a look at the graduation ceremony online and she just glowed. I did not see any pics that have been posted that shows what she wore under the graduation robe. This Moschino outfit is easy and breezy. You know, we hardly ever see our Michelle wearing head to toe of one designer, she usually mixes it up.
@ Trinisamba, thanks for the wake-up call! We must do better!
